Hal Hinkle

Hal Hinkle
CEO

Strong minds drive our ascent into the future, and it takes people like Hal Hinkle to get us there. Born a tree-hugger who loves to build businesses, Hal is the driving force behind the commercialization of BamCore. During his 22 years at Goldman Sachs he was key in building several successful businesses. After leaving Goldman Sachs, he started, ran and sold BrokerTec Global in four years. Today, Broker Tec is still one of the largest fully electronic financial trading platforms in the world. Today, as the leader of BamCore, he believes that BamCore can drive a paradigm shift in Western construction to make it stronger, faster, and greener through adoption of BamCore’s technology for converting quickly regenerating timber bamboo into western building products. Across his years on Wall Street, and in finance and in technology, he has not seen a double bottom line opportunity as powerful as BamCore where the financial upside is interlocked with such a potent environmental upside. He loves the fact when BamCore is successful, it is at the same time creating market demand for nature’s most effective carbon sequestration system – timber bamboo.

With several degrees ranging from BS in Biochemistry (UC Irvine) to an MBA (Columbia University Graduate School of Business), and to an MS, MPhil, and PhD (Columbia University Medical Center), Hal is well equipped to be at the helm as the Senior Manager/CEO, overseeing all parts of BamCore and ensuring progress for this game-changing company. In the few minutes he takes away from BamCore, Hal manages his organic ranch and vineyards and serves on the advisory boards for the (UC) Berkeley Food Institute and the Regional Climate Protection Agency.

Kevan Kurt
Director, Production

All the innovation possible cannot succeed without a supply of raw materials, and Kevan Kurt is the driving force behind BamCore’s supply of sustainable timber bamboo. He came to the company in 2012 to help secure bamboo from Central and South America. In April 2015, the investors of BamCore elected him as one of the LLC’s Managers. Since that time, his role has expanded to managing the importation of bamboo from 5 Latin American countries as well as continuing to locate new sources of raw materials. He has also worked on production related cost saving measures with sheet metal fabricators, acquisition/installation of equipment and other special projects that required research and location of specialized equipment and services. He also handles a range of administrative responsibilities for BamCore including insurance and employee relations.

After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, he spent five years in the insurance industry as an underwriter and analyst. He has also worked extensively as a licensed private investigator. These analytical and problem-solving skills where there is no map available help Kevan navigate the uncharted world of timber bamboo raw material.

Zack Zimmerman
Director, Business Development / CMO

Zack Zimmerman is passionate about environmental progress and sustainability. Growing up in the construction business, his background lends itself well to a company dedicated to sustainable building materials. A marketing degree with honors from Sonoma State University prepared him for the business world and mentoring from a father with 50 years of construction experience prepared him for the unique challenges that working for a company like BamCore would present. His ability to understand views of all parties involved in a building process through knowledge and understanding of the BamCore system and standard construction methods has been crucial to the success of BamCore. Now, as the Director of Business Development/CMO he is poised to help BamCore expand its brand, sales channels, and deliver its promise of sustainability to the markets.

BamCore represents an opportunity to affect change in western building methods in favor of a cleaner, more environmentally friendly future. Speaking of the future, he says, “BamCore presents an amazing opportunity for us, as a civilization, to do something good with the earth and the way we build for years to come. I hope to see and contribute towards BamCore becoming the standard for sustainable building. There simply isn’t another solution that could potentially make as large of an impact for the well-being of the earth and its inhabitants. It’s a sustainable leap forward.”

Nich Allan

Nich Allan
Director, QC & Product Development

It takes a balance of creativity, industry knowledge, research, and methodical testing to advance the building industry. Nich has extensive experience as a structural consulting engineer and has designed everything from single-family residences to large complex commercial buildings, making him a natural fit at BamCore. While working as a structural consultant, Nich became aware of a divide between the structural design of a building, and the building’s sustainable performance. This epiphany led him to the realization that sustainable building options should be integrated at a structural level. “Instead of trying to force a structure to be “green” by adding more layers, we should focus on providing building materials that are naturally energy efficient, and environmentally friendly.” Nich has worked with a wide range of traditional and non-traditional building materials, and he hasn’t seen anything that compares to BamCore wall systems. He believes they are the best solution for environmentally conscious buildings. Nich is a licensed Professional Engineer and has a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Davis. At Davis, his main passions were structural and environmental engineering of the built environment. His innovative thinking and experience are key assets in leading the engineering of BamCore wall systems.

Brenden Morton
Director, Platform & Fabrication

As a private real estate developer, Brenden has started and brought to success several different businesses. It was Brenden’s experience as the developer behind BamCore’s first prototype building that convinced him to invest in BamCore. Today, Brenden also serves as an adviser to the company in a wide variety of different areas. Looking forward, he sees the technology behind BamCore as the way for building materials to become sustainable, having this to say about the product’s future. “BamCore represents an extremely disruptive technology, with the capacity to become the vertically integrated industry represented by current forest products companies, but in a much more efficient and sustainable manner.” He views the timber and building industries as inefficient and is working hard to move the industry toward a sustainable future. Brenden was educated at Humboldt State University.

Travis Hargett
Director, Supply Development

Travis began his work with bamboo in Nicaragua, while serving in the Peace Corp. He and Hal met at the American Bamboo Society meeting in 2015 in Xalapa, Mexico. After leaving the Peace Corp, Travis joined BamCore to work with Kevan and Hal to help work with Latin American timber bamboo exporters and to research a wide range of critical topics for the company. Travis is fluent in Spanish and has a firm grasp on Latin American culture and business practices. This foundation, along with organizing experience allows him to form relationships with BamCore’s suppliers to ensure the Company receives the best quality raw material.

Travis served as a congressional page and earned a BA in Political Science from North Carolina State University. After graduating, he worked for 4 years at the North Carolina Sierra Club where he organized campaigns that helped increase residential and commercial energy efficiency in the International Building Code. This foundation in sustainable building techniques and care for the environment gives him an excellent background ideal for assisting BamCore in forging ahead into the future of more ecologically friendly building processes. He is enthusiastic about being involved with a company that can fundamentally shift how buildings are constructed, and at the same time make new construction more environmentally sustainable.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
